Patriots of Brooklyn:
Suppressors of the Great Slave Holder States, I, II, III

Although a new state, Minnesota sent hundreds of soldiers to fight in the Civil War. Brooklyn Township was pleased to do their part in the war to suppress slavery. "Patriots of Brooklyn: Suppressors of the Great Slave Holder States" includes over two hundred biographies of Brooklyn Township soldiers and depicts Brooklyn Townships' role in dozens of Civil War battles. From the Battle of Bull Run to the turning point at Gettysburg and finally to Sherman's March to the Sea, the men from Brooklyn Township marched and battled the Confederate army.

During this same period, many Minnesota regiments with Brooklyn Township soldiers helped to protect families back in Minnesota as the Dakota Indians attacked hundreds of settlers.
